SERVICES - MEDICAL CHEMICAL PEELS
What Is a Chemical Peel?
A chemical peel is a professional skin treatment designed to gently exfoliate and remove dead skin cells, revealing brighter, fresher, and healthier skin underneath. Often referred to as a medical peel, this treatment uses carefully selected skin-safe acids to improve texture, tone, and overall skin quality at a cellular level.
While manual exfoliation methods like scrubs or dermaplaning remove only the surface layer of dead skin, chemical peels penetrate deeper to trigger faster cell renewal, smooth skin texture, and reduce pigmentation, acne, and signs of ageing.
How Do Chemical Peels Work?
Your skin is made up of multiple layers, and around 30% of the top layer is made up of dead skin cells. A chemical peel works by dissolving the bonds that hold these cells together, allowing the outermost dull layers to shed and reveal brighter, smoother skin underneath.
We use different types of acids depending on your skin type and goals:
✔ AHA (Alpha Hydroxy Acids): Gently exfoliate and improve overall skin brightness
✔ BHA (Beta Hydroxy Acids): Help clear oil, bacteria, and acne-causing congestion
✔ PHA (Poly Hydroxy Acids): Best for sensitive skin, providing gentle yet effective exfoliation
✔ TCA (Trichloroacetic Acid): Deeper peel for boosting collagen and treating sun damage
✔ Phenol (Carbolic Acid): The most intensive peel for deep skin renewal and collagen stimulation
These acids can be layered or combined for enhanced effects and are often infused with targeted active ingredients like kojic acid, arbutin, azelaic acid, and retinoids to treat concerns such as:
✔ Pigmentation & melasma
✔ Sun damage & photo-ageing
✔ Acne & oily skin
✔ Dull or uneven skin tone
✔ Fine lines & light scarring
How Many Sessions Are Needed?
The number of treatments depends on your skin concern:
Anti-ageing or maintenance: 1–3 peels
Acne or pigmentation: 3–6 peels
Superficial peels: Require more regular treatments
Deep peels (Phenol): 1–2 per year may be enough
Treatment Time & Recovery
Treatment Duration: Around 30 minutes
Pain Level: Mild tingling or warmth during treatment
Downtime: Varies depending on depth (light flaking to visible peeling)
You may experience peeling from day 2, lasting up to 5 days depending on the peel strength. Superficial peels have little to no downtime, while deeper peels may result in more visible peeling and dryness.
